MARVELL SCOTT ROBBING THE CRADLE?! WTF!!
Former WABC/Ch. 7 sportscaster Marvell Scott has been charged with raping a 14-year-old, officials said. Scott was in custody and due to appear in a Manhattan courtroom Tuesday afternoon for arraignment. Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly confirmed that he was accused of raping a teen but gave no other details. WCBS/Ch. 2 reported the victim was a hooker – and that Scott’s lawyer claims he’s the victim of a shakedown.
Scott worked at Ch. 7 as a weekend sportscaster until last April when he suddenly disappeared from the station.The move stunned insiders because he’d taken vacation just as the May ratings period was to start, a highly unusual move in TV news.
“I’m taking some time off,” Scott told the News at the time. “Everything is fine.”Scott said he would return to the station, but never did. In June, he told the News he was leaving TV to focus on a medical career. Scott, who specializes in sports medicine, said he as in the final stages of his education and had a fellowship at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in Hamilton, N.J.
ABC officials never discussed why Scott left but there was speculation he was in some kind of trouble and it cost him job opportunities at other stations. Scott recently traveled to Haiti to be part of a doctors relief mission. He said he was also shooting video with the hopes of turning it into a documentary.
“This has been a life-changing experience,” Scott told the News earlier this month. “I’ll never be the same.”
