CHRISTIAN BALE FINALLY GETS AN OSCAR!!!

February 28, 2011

A triumphant Bale fought back tears after winning the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance as Dicky Eklund in “The Fighter” at the Oscars on Sunday night (February 27). It was the 37-year-old’s first nomination and first Academy Award.

“I didn’t think I was like this,” Bale said, a lump in his throat. “[Thanks to] my wonderful wife and our little girl, who’s taught me so much more than I’ll ever be able to teach her.” For Bale, it was an uncommonly sentimental ending to a speech that began with good humor and a few laughs.

“What a room full of talented and inspirational people,” Bale said when he first took the stage. “What am I doing here?”

Yeah, I know its late news but this man should have got one for ‘American Psycho’ in my opinion. The Patrick Bateman character is the quintessential persona you would expect from a Wall Street banker. I mean, with dialogue like this:

Quotes

Patrick Bateman: Did you know that Whitney Houston’s debut LP, called simply Whitney Houston had 4 number one singles on it? Did you know that, Christie?

Elizabeth: [laughing] You actually listen to Whitney Houston? You own a Whitney Houston CD? More than one?
Patrick Bateman: It’s hard to choose a favorite among so many great tracks, but “The Greatest Love of All” is one of the best, most powerful songs ever written about self-preservation, dignity. Its universal message crosses all boundaries and instills one with the hope that it’s not too late to better ourselves…Haha, this guy is funny.

And great jabs at the Ives and their Ivy towers:

Patrick Bateman: He was into that whole Yale thing.
Donald Kimball: Yale thing?
Patrick Bateman: Yeah, Yale thing.
Donald Kimball: What whole Yale thing?
Patrick Bateman: Well, for one thing, I think he was probably a closet homosexual who did a lot of cocaine. That whole Yale thing…LMAO

He was disciplined and focused (shows in most of his character roles), he had his morning routine. Bravo to you sir, you did it…
